Jeannie Vodden

Just Simmering by Jeannie VoddenJeannie Vodden lives in the foothills of the Northern Sierra Nevada. Her charming home studio is located on the Jackson Creek right off Highway 88 in Jackson, Ca.
Jeannie, whose media is most often watercolor, is a versatile painter of portraits, still life, floral, landscape and fantasy.

In 1993 she returned to school to study art at American River College in Sacramento. She mentored with, and was a teacher’s aid for, Sacramento artist/teacher Gary Pruner, studying color theory, design, drawing, painting, and art history. She was impressed with Pruner’s passion for art and his sensitive methods of teaching.

Now, Vodden is a popular instructor of watercolor. She has taught workshops throughout California, and out of state for 15 years, and teaches regular classes at The School of Light and Color in Fair Oaks, and at University Art in Sacramento, Ca. She enjoys demonstrating her watercolor techniques to art and community organizations and finds the challenge of judging art competitions rewarding.

Mystic Companions by Jeannie VoddenHaving recently returned from teaching a workshop in Vancouver, Washington for the Southwest Washington Watercolor Society and judging their fall art competition, Jeannie’s schedule is a busy one. Jeannie does her own framing and matting, and maintains her website, as well as all the little and big demands of small business.

In 2009 Jeannie’s work was featured on Chris Beck’s watercolor blog, (http://brush-paper-water.blogspot.com) in which the Bay area artist, Beck, features a new artist every other week.
