Youth Art Month or “YAM” is when and how we focus national attention on the importance of art in education. During our annual March celebration we promote STEAM: Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Mathematics, for a well-rounded educational curriculum to develop creative and critical thinkers. As parents, we need to advocate for art inclusive curriculum and promote and encourage our childrens’ creative outlets – both in school and at home.
You needn’t look further than your nearest art supply store to find inspiration, art supplies, workshops and classes to help your child experiment with different art mediums.
Faber Castell and Klutz are two companies that have wonderful kits and how-to sets to satisfy a diverse array of creative activities and encourage new and exciting hobbies. Check out our UArt calendars for the store near you for demos, workshops and classes your child might enjoy.
At University Art Center there’s a world of art supplies and craft supplies for kids of all ages to discover, experiment and enjoy. UArt is an art store, a crafts store, a gift store, a frame store, a hobby store…you name it – if it’s creative, it’s probably here. So bring the kids and spend an afternoon exploring your creative side!
